UChicago Bhangra (UCB), the University's co-ed competitive Bhangra team, strives to promote Bhangra as a dance and art form to the university community and the greater Chicagoland area. The team has grown immensely in recent years, having competed around the country in places like Texas, Iowa, and Virginia. Contact us anytime throughout the year for events, weddings, or other opportunities. Bhangra is fun to watch and even more fun to dance, so we invite you to dance along and cheer us on whenever you see us perform!
2012 - Present
The team officially changed names to UChicago Bhangra (UCB) in 2012. Even with the name change and growing membership, the team retained its family-like character. UChicago Bhangra has since set out to make waves on the national compeitive circuit, performing at Nachte Raho (Iowa City), Raas Rave & Bhangra Blitz (Dallas), Nasha X (Houston), and placing first at Richmond, VA's Punjabi Mela Competition! We look forward to what the future has in store.
2003 - 2011
Balle Bhangra performed on-campus, at weddings, for the Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago and even at Navy Pier. The team even started to perform at the national level, including performances at Nachte Raho in 2006 and 2009. Balle Bhangra quickly gained popularity on campus and won first place at UChicago’s Got Talent!
We would like to thank all of our alumni for their support, advice, and help throughout all the years. You’ll always be a part of the UCB family!
